Lambton SAFE Community Council

…making Lambton County a safe place to live, learn, work and play

There is NO such thing as an 'ACCIDENT'
All 'accidents' are Predictable and Preventable

INJURIES CHANGE LIVES

Lambton Safe Community Council is a community-wide injury prevention coalition  that has  safety programs for all ages, in all areas of the community, including the workplace, home, traffic, farm, sports and recreation, educational and retirement facilities and others.

Lambton Safe Community Council is a Charitable Organization (# 86297 7212 RR0001) and member of Safe Communities Canada.

Lambton Safe Community Council needs your support to continue our programs.
It may be a step that saves a limb… It may be a step that saves a life.

Disturbing FACTS... Did you know?

  • INJURY is the 4th leading cause of death in Canada.

  • 1 in 7 young workers is injured on the job in Canada.

  • An average of 42 young workers are injured or killed on the job every day in Ontario.

  • 56 per cent of young workers in Canada are not given the proper safety training before taking on new tasks.

  • The majority of incidents among young workers in Sarnia-Lambton occur in the services sector, and in manufacturing and construction.  (The services sector includes restaurant and food services, vehicle sales and services, office and related services retail, wholesale, tourism and hospitality.)

It only takes a second for a life-altering event to happen.

Risky behaviour is NOT o.k. to get the job done.

Being safe is never the wrong thing to do.

Injuries change lives.

Work SAFE...Work SMART

Reducing incidents and injuries is everyone's responsibility

70% of total injuries occur outside the workplace.
Most communities have NO STRATEGY to address where most injuries occur
- IN OUR OWN NEIGHBOURHOODS!

Live, learn, work and play...safely.

“There is no power for change greater
than a community discovering what it cares about”
    -
Margaret Wheatley

“The antidote to injury is attitude:  an injection of awareness, caring and learning into the  minds and hearts of everyone around us." -  Paul  Kells, Founder of Safe Communities Canada
